Three Crosses

2021

Pen and colored pencil on paper, 44 x 30 inches

This is an intimacy <> architecture collage. The small black rectangles look like the overhead view of a disorganized city. That visual theme is repeated with the tan, peach and yellow rectangles layered underneath. The tan rectangles are the shapes Google Maps displays of my house, my detached back garage and a bit of my neighbor's home. The peach is the lawn and landscaping, and the yellow is the sidewalk. I pair these architectural elements with three crosses, styled to look more like targets than the crosses Jesus and two criminals were crucified on.
